I was saddened to hear of Gary Carter's passing today. Richard Goldstein penned a wonderful obituary of him.
This last week I've been watching Games 4 and 7 of the 1988 NLCS on DVD. I pulled these images from the Game 4 disc where he went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI in a losing effort against the Dodgers.
The last image was taken just after he slid into third base in the 6th inning. He never really smiled, but I think he was smiling on the inside.
I admired his enthusiasm for the game. He's missed by fans the world over. I wish and pray for peace for his family at their time of loss.
