New cards for my collection

Several weeks ago Daniel (It's like having my own Card Shop) posted about an auction service that he came across.  That post introduced me to the world of Listia.com.  I asked him to refer me, so he could gain some credit.  He did and I was on my way to buying and selling card.  Whee!

For signing up you get so many credits.  As you take their tour, list items for auction, make referrals you gain more credits.  You don't deal in cash, but in credits.  One of the things I haven't mastered yet is the value of a credit.  I guess that is like money.  How many credits you're willing to part with to get what you want.

I don't understand it, but I was able to snag a few cards.  This freakish two player card where Gibbie looks like he needs a training bra set me back 100 credits.  That's where the auction started and I was the only bidder.  Free shipping.

2010 Press Pass Fusion - Cross Training
Kirk Gibson / Orel Hershiser (card # CT-1)

I used 202 credits to get this gently loved Dodgers team card, complete with pin hole.  Again, free shipping.

1966 Topps
Los Angeles Dodgers (card # 238)

I have listed one card on the Listia site. It was a 1989 Topps Turn Back The Clock Stan Musial. It sold for 26 credits. So, is the Dodgers team card worth eight TBTC Musials? I think so.

I recently won another auction. The card arrived today. I'll be posting that one in a few days.

If you want to try Listia, please let me know and I'll be happy to refer you.

  1. I think you could post that first card again --- next Halloween. I love the line about Orel, he "battled hitters successfully with his mind". Svengali Hershiser!

  2. My sakes, what a ghastly card.

(Yes, I just used a declaration that my grandmother said all the time. I was so shocked by the card, I had to go to someone else's vocabulary).
